Summer is known for its blockbuster films. Here's a guide to what experts say should be on your radar for summer 2015:
"Jurassic World"
Out June 12, this follow-up to the popular "Jurassic Park" movies is expected to be a hit. Actor Chris Pratt takes the lead in this film as the dinosaur park aims to renew visitors' interest with a genetically modified dinosaur, but it all goes terribly wrong.
"Inside Out"
Pixar’s latest offering will be out June 19.
Fandango calls it the “mind boggling tale of an 11-year-old girl named Riley and the emotions that rule her brain, namely: Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness. It is an emotional journey (literally) that takes us into the world that exists within us all as Riley tries to adjust to a new city, a new house and a new school.”
"Magic Mike XXL"
This awaited followup to the first sexy movie has a trailer that
“starts out like a ‘Flashdance’ flashback,” The Denver Post said. “And Channing Tatum is a maniac, maniac on the floor, and he's dancing a lot like he did three summers before. Not that there's anything wrong with that.” It’s out July 1.
"Minions"
This may be the movie most kids are anticipating for the summer, and it's coming out July 10. “This time, the ["Despicable Me"] franchise focuses on those lovable yellow Minions when they join super-villain Scarlet Overkill (voiced by Sandra Bullock) and her husband Herb (voiced by Jon Hamm) as they plot to try to take over the world,” Fandango said.
"Ant-Man"
Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas star what's likely to be Marvel Studios’ second hit superhero movie this summer. In “Ant-Man,” Douglas plays scientist Hank Pym who enlists the help of burglar Scott Lang (Rudd) to steal back a tech suit that has fallen into the wrong hands. Despite being among Marvel’s littlest Avengers, expect “Ant-Man” to be big on laughs and action, in theaters July 17.
It’ll be a jam-packed theater summer with numerous other offerings, including “Southpaw,” “The Act of Killing,” and even a “Vacation” reboot.
