Steven Tyler's unexpected medical issues have led Aerosmith to cancel its tour, The HuffPost reported Wednesday, noting that shows in Brazil, Chile, Argentina and Mexico had been called off.

The veteran rocker later confirmed this in a statement via social media.

Tyler has been forced to seek immediate medical care and has been advised by doctors not to travel, according to a statement on the band's website.

"To everybody in South America....Brazil, Chile, Argentina and Mexico... I'm very sorry and feel like I've let you down," Tyler said in the statement. "I flew back to the U.S. on doctor's orders last night after the show in São Paulo."

The Aerosmith lead singer said he was not in a life-threatening condition but added that he needed "to deal with this right away, and get some rest and medical care immediately in order to sustain and maintain my future performances."

Tyler said that "unfortunately, health does not wait and it's something even I can't schedule around our shows."

He concluded by stating "I love you all and will be back with you soon."

Tyler has previously fought a battle with hepatitis C, which he was diagnosed with in 2003.

The rock legend spoke out about his illness three years later, explaining how he underwent 11 months of chemotherapy, Today reported.

This is not the first time a member of Aerosmith has ignited concerns due to health matters.

Last year guitarist Joe Perry set tongues wagging when he collapsed onstage during a performance with the Hollywood Vampires at the Ford Amphitheater on the Coney Island Boardwalk in New York.
