Steve Martin on Monday debunked several reports that he is working on a new "Father of the Bride 3" movie.
An exclusive
report from Hollywood insider blog NikkiFinke.com was posted Sunday, on Father's Day, claiming that "Disney and Warner Bros are sorting out the rights to Father Of The Bride 3," and that Martin would be recast in his starring role. On Monday, however, Martin posted to Twitter, denying any involvement in such a project.

The story took off and was featured by many other news outlets as details about the supposed script began to emerge. The Internet was buzzing with the news that Martin would reprise his role as George Banks, presiding over his son's gay wedding to the son of a Navy SEAL.
Finke's source said Martin's character is "thunderstruck and speechless" to find out that his son Little Matty, 29, is getting married to a man. Upset that he's uncomfortable with the gay wedding, his wife Nina kicks him out of the house.
The source claims that Charles Shyer will write and direct, and that Disney loved the pitch. "It’s a timely idea. I told Charles I just hope it goes forward before gay stops trending," said the source, who turned out to be wrong.
