Stephen Hawking is uncomfortable coming to America after President Donald Trump's election, the theoretical physicist said on a British television program Monday.

"I have many friends and colleagues [in America], and it is still a place I like and admire in many ways. But I fear that I may not be welcome," he told ITV’s "Good Morning Britain."

Hawking also said in the interview that Trump’s "priority will be to satisfy his electorate, who are neither liberal nor that well-informed."

Hawking listed the Mexican border wall, oil pipelines, and the Scott Pruitt EPA appointment as examples of Trump policies intended to satisfy his base. Hawking also does not support Trump’s travel ban or his cuts to climate change research. "Climate change is one of the great dangers we face, and it’s one we can prevent," he said.

Hawking expressed before the election that he didn’t understand Trump’s popularity, saying, “He’s a demagogue who seems to appeal to the lowest common denominator,” The Guardian reported.

In the same interview, Hawking said he wasn’t sure humans wouldn’t lose control of artificial intelligence once it becomes self-designing, and that he wanted to travel into space at some future point.

Twitter was reluctant to discount the brilliant Hawking’s comments about Trump's America.
