Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, the “Star Wars”-inspired attractions under construction at California’s Disneyland and Florida’s Walt Disney World, will open at Disneyland in the summer 2019 and in the fall of that year at Disney World, Disney announced Wednesday.
“The lands, both called Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, will allow guests to visit a remote trading port on the edge of wild space, where Star Wars characters and their stories come to life — and where guests will find themselves in the middle of the action,” Disney announced on its blog.
“The lands will feature two major attractions that put guests in the middle of a battle between the First Order and the Resistance. Each attraction — and even the land itself — will offer guests the chance to immerse themselves in the 'Star Wars' universe like never before,” Disney continued.
Disney Imagineer Asa Kalama gave an idea of what park goers might expect to see and experience.
“An experience might begin on board the Millennium Falcon and follow you right out the door of the attraction and into the local watering hole,” Kalama said, according to HuffPost.
The Verge surmised that Galaxy’s Edge will “up the ante” in theme park experiences, taking them to an entirely new level.
“That project will allow guests to literally eat, sleep, and breathe 'Star Wars' throughout the entirety of their visit, as they take part in an interactive adventure than can stretch from the hotel, to the park, and back,” according to The Verge.
"Star Wars" fans were already lining up on Twitter.
