Stan Lee's Marvel cameos have already been shot for the next four movies in the comic's cinematic universe, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige told the website Collider over the weekend.
Lee, the 93-year-old cartoonist who rose to serve as president of Marvel Comics for a time, has become a staple in its movies, appearing in mostly humorous cameos ever since "X-Men" in 2000. Spotting Lee in Marvel films has become an anticipated event for fans over the years.
During a special screening of "Captain America: Civil War" in Los Angeles over the weekend, Feige said that Lee's next handful of appearances have already been shot.
"We do not shoot random ones," Feige told Collider. "They're always specific. A couple of months ago in Atlanta, [Lee] flew down and we shot four in one day — for four various projects. They're all awesome. They're all totally different. And he was unbelievable. He was on fire. He came in, he sat here, he stood there, he stood in this window, and then he went home."
Lee has made cameo appearances in 26 Marvel films so far, even though Feige did not confirm whether the new cameos are for the upcoming next four films, Collider noted.
Marvel movie productions are ongoing, with "Thor: Ragnarok" in production in Australia and "Spider-Man: Homecoming" getting close to wrapping up at the same time, noted Collider. "Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2" recently wrapped while "Doctor Strange" is expected to hit theaters Nov. 4.
"It's even possible that the filming session had Stan Lee doing what he needed to do for scenes in 'The Avengers: Infinity War' and 'The Avengers 4,' given that both of those movies are now in pre-production down in Atlanta," wrote Eric Eisenberg, of the website Cinema Blend.
"Seeing Stan Lee pop up in various Marvel movies is always a treat, and one that we gotten to experience three times already this year: with Lee being a strip club DJ in 'Deadpool,' a FedEx delivery guy in 'Captain America: Civil War,' and a man fearing nuclear destruction in 'X-Men: Apocalypse.'"
Born Stanley Martin Lieber, Lee is credited is credited with co-launching some of the most iconic characters in comic book history, including Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, the X-Men, the Hulk, Thor, and the Fantastic Four, according to Biography.com.
