Sean Spicer was eliminated from "Dancing With the Stars" this week amid an onslaught of criticism that erupted weeks ago when the casting of the former press secretary was first announced.
Judges were not overly impressed with Spicer during Monday’s dance to Destiny's Child's "Bills, Bills, Bills." In the end, the subpar performance with partner Jenna Johnson earned him a mere 26 out of 40 possible points, Fox News reported.
Initially Spicer stole the show in the season premiere of "DWTS" and won the approval of the judges, but it was not long before the backlash ensued.
It started with jabs from the public and prominent stars like "The View" co-host Joy Behar, who remarked that the show should be renamed "Dancing with the Liars" but things escalated into alleged death threats being made to the children of "DWTS" co-star Karamo Brown after he joined the cast.
There have been those who have backed Spicer throughout the season of "DWTS." Meghan McCain came to his defense during an episode of "The View," stating that he had a "really good heart and "used to be really well-respected."
She pointed out that Spicer had "kids to put through college" and bills to pay and when looking at the situation from that perspective, she could not be angry at him.
President Donald Trump has also been supporting Spicer throughout the season and praised the political aide shortly after he exited the show.
"A great try by @seanspicer. We are all proud of you!" Trump tweeted.
