An Illinois mother was stunned when a man rented an entire theater for her special needs son who was recently kicked out of a screening of "Dumbo" for causing a distraction with his laugh.
Jennifer Daly was in tears after staff from a Lake in the Hills theater asked her family to leave after the complaints about her 3-year-old son Jonathan, who has a rare form of dwarfism.
Taking to Facebook, the mother of two explained that her special needs son had "yelled out in his giggle twice not more than 20 seconds each and giggled" when a staff member told them to "pack up and leave."
She angrily noted that her son "did absolutely nothing but laugh twice in a kids movie" but said the incident left her nervous to ever take him out to the theater again. "I don’t know if I will ever feel like I could go to the movies again because I won’t be able to enjoy myself if my son laughs [knowing] that I might get kicked out," she said.
The post drew widespread interest and gained the attention of Beau Box who sympathized with the Daly family. He decided to rent an entire theater in Woodstock, a two about 13 miles away from Lake in the Hills, for Jonathan along with about 40 other special needs children for the day.
"I thought it was sad that Jonathan couldn’t see the movie, and I love going to the movies and I think everybody should be able to see a movie even if they have special needs," Box said, according to WBBM.
Daly said she could not have anticipated such a wonderful gift following her heartbreaking experience and urged others to use it as encouragement to show a little kindness to one another.
