A couple, dressed in wedding attire, boarded a Southwest Airlines plane Sunday night in Las Vegas for a cross-country flight to Baltimore as they prepared to be married during the flight thousands of feet above ground.
The couple remained in their seats until 45 minutes before the end of the five-hour trip, Fox News reported. They stood at opposite ends of the plane and then were joined together for the ceremony officiated by the pilot from the cabin.
Bride Renee held a yellow floral bouquet as she met the groom, Michael. Their last names were not known, according to Yahoo Lifestyle.
Before the couple repeated their vows, Fox News said the pilot joked that they had met “four years ago and this weekend decided to make it at least another four years.” They met on Match.com, so the pilot added, “yes, ladies and gentlemen, it really does work.”
Renee and Michael took to the aisle after the ceremony, dancing to Chris Brown’s “Forever.”
An airline representative told Yahoo the plane’s crew “jumped at the opportunity” to take part in the wedding ceremony, which was captured on video by passenger Skylee Campbell.
“It was adorable,” Skylee told Yahoo. “They had us all turn on our call lights to light up the aisle and play music.”
Passengers and crew even presented the couple with a “cake” made from straws, napkins, and toilet paper. The napkins included written marriage advice from some of the passengers.
The ceremony is apparently nothing new for Southwest, which hosted an in-flight wedding in August for a couple flying from Texas to Riviera Maya, Mexico, for their honeymoon. A flight attendant re-created their nuptials.
