A South Carolina family is safe after a father and his two children were rescued Tuesday after being lost in Congaree National Park since Saturday.
J.R. Kimbler, his 10-year-old son Dakota, and 6-year-old daughter Jade, were about two miles from the visitor’s center when they were
found at about 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, The Associated Press reported.

The family got lost without food, water, or camping gear during what appeared to be intended as a short hike.
“We could have been walking for days and never known it. I will never go back there again,”
Kimbler said at a news conference, according to The State.
WIS News 10 tweeted the news conference.
National Park Service Ranger Jared Gurtler found the family while search on foot with a flashlight.
"I was just hollering names. They all hollered back,” Gurtler said, according to the AP.
The family drank water from a pond during their ordeal.
According to the AP, Kimbler recently began seeing his children on weekends after not being involved in their lives for a few years. Their mother, Tammy Ballard, was at the park during the search.
