A Sony movie was posted to YouTube in its entirety on Tuesday instead of just the trailer in a mistake that wasn’t caught for about eight hours.
“Khali the Killer,” which was released last November to DVD, had all 89 minutes and 46 seconds posted to YouTube for a brief period of time, bringing new meaning to the term “spoilers.”
The movie, directed by Jon Matthews, stars Richard Cabral as a hitman who can’t complete his final job when he develops empathy for his victims.
CBR.com was the first site to notice the accidental posting, describing it as an “epic mistake” before it was taken down Tuesday afternoon. The site also noted that commenters joked about the posting, saying, “Trailer gave the whole plot away—pass” and that “the whole movie will be 4 hours.”
Although posting the entire movie online was a major mistake, the movie actually got more attention from the snafu than it had gotten up to that point since its release, The Hollywood Reporter noted. Those who missed it when it was accidentally free to view can rent or purchase it from Amazon and Apple as well as rent it from YouTube itself.
Twitter commenters varied in their opinions on Sony’s actions, with some wondering if it was really a mistake.
