Sofia Vergara Push Sends Reece to the ER With a 'Popped Ovary'

By    |   Tuesday, 14 April 2015 09:52 AM EDT

Reese Witherspoon had her "ovary popped" by Sofia Vergara while filming a fight scene for their new movie, "Hot Pursuit," the actresses revealed Monday on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show."

"She went to the emergency room. I sent her to the emergency room," said Vergara, after goading Witherspoon to tell the surprising tale.

"I push her and I push her, and I kept telling her, 'I think I'm pushing you too hard,' and she was like, 'No do it real,'" said the "Modern Family" star.

Witherspoon looked a bit nervous, but joined in the fun, corroborating Vergara's story.

"I was like, 'Push me hard!'" said the "Legally Blonde" actress.

That's when something when wrong.

"I thought my appendix had burst," said Witherspoon.

"I popped her ovary!" said Vergara.

DeGeneres looked concerned as the pair laughed and spoke casually about what sounds like a serious injury, as did the studio audience.

"Hot Pursuit" hits theaters on May 8.
