Senators Jeff Flake and Cory Booker had a snowball duel on the east lawn of the U.S. Capitol building Thursday morning after a spring snowstorm blanketed Washington.
The two lawmakers decided to take their fight out of the Senate and to the east lawn for bragging rights and free pizza for the winner’s staff.
The trash talk appeared on Twitter ahead of the matchup, with Booker pointing out that Flake was from Arizona where there wasn’t “much snow.”
Booker might have thought his New Jersey background gave him an advantage over Flake, but apparently he forgot Flake is from a town called Snowflake. Booker later announced Flake had won the contest 3-2, and that he was slipping some vegan pizzas into their winnings.
For his part, Flake acknowledged that Booker had some good moves even though he lost.
Lawmakers have been trying to pass a last-minute spending deal by Friday at midnight to avoid a government shutdown.
