Smash Mouth: Bread Thrown at Concert Freaks Out Front Man

By    |   Tuesday, 16 June 2015 12:02 PM EDT

Smash Mouth front man Steve Harwell freaked out when slices of bread were thrown on stage during the finale of a Colorado concert on Sunday, prompting him to scream obscenities before being escorted off stage by a security guard.

The Coloradoan reported that Harwell yelled profanities at the audience during the band's performance at Taste of Fort Collins.

The loaves of sliced bread were given away free by one of the Taste of Fort Collins vendors that day, giving fans plenty of ammo.

"Basically, Harwell loses his mind for roughly three minutes, while the rest of the band tries to diffuse the situation by performing their iconic hit, 'All Star,'" wrote Billboard magazine's Jason Lipshutz. "Is this the tensest situation in which 'All Star' has ever been played? Probably."

The incident escalated to the point where Harwell began challenging some in the audience to stop throwing bread or he would come in the crowd and make them stop.

Many on social media gave a thumbs down to Harwell's antics.
