Slipknot guitarist Mick Thomson was stabbed in the head during a knife fight with his brother Wednesday morning in the front yard of a home in Iowa.
Thomson, 41, one of the original members of the Grammy Award-winning metal band that formed in 1995, was stabbed in the back of the head, authorities told the
Des Moines Register.
Mick Thomson and brother Andrew John Thomson, 35, of West Des Moines, were both hospitalized,
reported KCCI-TV.
Police said the alcohol-fueled brawl happened about 4:25 a.m., starting inside the home in Clive before it spilled outdoors. Police told the Register that both brothers were suffering from stab wounds when they arrived.
Slipknot lead singer Corey Taylor posted an update on Thomson's condition on Twitter, saying he was recovering.
Taylor and Thomson helped form Slipknot in 1995 with DJ Sid Wilson, drummer Joey Jordison, bassist Paul Gray, percussionist Chris Fehn, guitarist James Root, programmer Craig Jones and percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan,
according to MTV.
Gray died in 2010 at 38 of an apparent accidental drug overdose in a hotel room in Urbandale, Iowa, noted MTV.
