Two sisters kicked off an Allegiant Air flight are saddened and upset that they missed their dying father’s last moments.
Debbie Hartman and Trisha Baker were told to get off the Allegiant Air flight from Sanford, Florida, to Asheville, North Carolina, after Baker got a text message that her father had only a few hours to live, News 6 reported. Wanting to see if her sister had gotten the same text, Baker left her assigned seat to go console her sister but was told by a flight attendant to sit down.
Baker tried to explain to the flight attendant why she left her seat, but the crew was reportedly not sympathetic. Hartman had a panic attack, which escalated the situation after Baker told the flight attendant she was being “rude,” News 6 reported.
The flight attendant then told the sisters they had to “keep their personal problems off the plane,” Hartman told News 6. The flight attendant then called the captain, who turned the flight around and had airport security escort them off the plane.
The sisters' father died a short time later before they could get another flight, and they missed his last moments.
The sisters want an apology and some sort of punishment the airline's crew's actions.
A passenger who posted about the incident on social media called the actions of the flight attendant “the most inhumane, deplorable thing I’ve ever seen any human being do,” News 6 reported.
Allegiant Air told News 6 it is investigating what occurred with the sisters on the flight and that it takes “this customer feedback seriously.”
