A wedding at the posh Waldorf Astoria hotel in New York City was ruined when a guest accidentally discharged a firearm on Saturday night, grazing a woman's forehead and spraying debris that hit four others.
According to the New York Post, suspect Vladimir Gotlibovsky, 42, was arrested along with his brother Felix, 51, following the incident.
After the gun's discharge, Vladimir allegedly handed the 9mm Ruger to Felix, who handed it to their mother, who hid it in her purse until she could hand it off to Vladimir’s wife, Maya, who took it back home to Brooklyn.
Vladimir is charged with tampering with physical evidence, reckless endangerment, and assault with criminal negligence. Felix is charged with illegal weapon possession and tampering with physical evidence.
Both brothers left the Manhattan Criminal Court in a white Cadillac Escalade, and refused comment to reporters.
On Sunday, district attorney spokesman Patrick Muncie said in a statement that, "Prosecution of this case is deferred while the investigation continues into the circumstances surrounding the discharge of the firearm and its removal from the scene. The person believed to have discharged the weapon has a permit authorizing him to possess and carry it."
Maya Rafailovich, 55, was injured by the gun's bullet, which grazed her forehead. She was partially treated at the scene and taken by ambulance to Bellevue Hospital.
Four others suffered minor injuries from flying debris. Of those, three were treated at nearby hospitals, and one refused medical attention at the scene,
