Olympic gold medalist Shawn Johnson, who is pregnant with her and husband Andrew East's second child, has tested positive for coronavirus. The gymnast announced the news Sunday on Instagram.
"Got my results back today and they came back positive for Covid," she shared in an Instagram story, according to People.
Johnson revealed that she was already feeling "exhausted" after taking care of her 15-month-old daughter, Drew Hazel, who had been battling respiratory syncytial virus for the last two weeks. She also admitted to feeling nervous about her diagnosis and explained why.
"1: I don't want to get my family sick," she wrote. "2: I have asthma and have had it my entire life so this scares me a little extra. 3: had a very close family member fight for his life last month while battling Covid so it's a serious topic of concern/hits home in our household."
In her post, Johnson listed her symptoms which included a "cough, terrible sore throat and headache" as well as fatigue, which she largely attributed to pregnancy.
"Not looking for any kind of pitty party," she added. "Just a reminder to take care of yourself. Drink an extra water tonight and wash your hands."
Johnson first announced her second pregnancy on Jan. 15 on Instagram with a series of photos that showed her growing baby bump.
"Here we go again," she captioned the images. In one photo she is kissing East, who is tagged in the post. The second image is of Drew Hazel and the third is of the three of them together.
"Couldn’t do any of this without you @andrewdeast you’re the best daddy and husband in the world," she added in a follow-up post.
