Sharon Stone has revealed that her surgeon enhanced her breasts by "a full cup size" without her consent. Speaking with The Times Herald, the actor explained that she underwent surgery in 2001 to have benign tumors removed from her body, but upon waking discovered her breasts were very different.

"When I was un-bandaged, I discovered that I had a full cup-size bigger breasts, ones that he said, ‘go better with your hip size,'" she said. "He had changed my body without my knowledge or consent ... He thought that I would look better with bigger, better boobs."

The same year of her unauthorized breast surgery, Stone also suffered a life-threatening stroke and brain aneurysm that took seven years of recovery. Her career took a dent as she had to relearn basic, everyday functions like walking and writing. Revisiting those memories, Stone opened up about the moment in the hospital that she realized how severe the situation was.

"The room was so silent," she recalled during an interview with Willie Geist on "Today" Sunday. "When the room is so silent and no one's running around trying to fix you, that's when you realize how near death is and how serious everything is."

In her memoir, "The Beauty of Living Twice," Stone writes about seeing a bright light and experiencing a sense of falling. She also recalls seeing people who had passed. Speaking with Geist, the "Basic Instinct" star said others had revealed similar stories.

"I found out that I wasn't the only one who'd had this kind of experience," she said. "It's so profound. And I know that scientists feel that it's a scientific thing that happens. And spiritualists believe that it's a spiritual thing. Personally, I'm with (Albert) Einstein, who believed that it's both."

In 2019, Stone revealed to Variety that in the months and years that ensued, people were "brutally unkind" to her as she tried to pick up the pieces of her life. She had to put her career on hold as she focused on recovery, but rather than receive support and understanding from friends, family, and colleagues, Stone felt rejected by Hollywood.

"People treated me in a way that was brutally unkind," she said. "From other women in my own business to the female judge who handled my custody case, I don’t think anyone grasps how dangerous a stroke is for women and what it takes to recover — it took me about seven years."

Stone said she had to remortgage her house after losing "everything." She also felt rejected by the industry.

"It was like Miss Princess Diana and I were so famous — and she died and I had a stroke. And we were forgotten," she noted.

Stone has bounced back though and now focuses her energy on creating awareness around stroke. She does not want other women to encounter the struggles she and other victims of stroke had to endure.

"I've met so many people in situations worse than my own, and I've learned a lot," she said. "This experience has developed my character."
