Shailene Woodley has finally confirmed that she is engaged to NFL star quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The couple sparked rumors that they were dating earlier this month, and then, days later, Rodgers announced that he was engaged. He did not name his fiancee but in an interview on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," Woodley revealed that she was the mystery woman.
"Yes, we are engaged, we are engaged," the "Big Little Lies" star told Fallon when asked whether the engagement rumors were true, per Fox News. "But for us, it's not new news, you know, so it's kind of funny, everybody right now is freaking out over it and we're like, 'Yeah we've been engaged for a while.'"
Woodley admitted she never thought that she would be engaged to "someone who threw balls for a living" and joked that her dog approved of their relationship because the Green Bay Packers quarterback could throw a ball farther than three feet. And despite her engagement to an NFL star, Woodley confessed she had never been to a football game before.
"I have yet to go to a football game and before I'd met him, I'd never seen one football game before. I didn't really grow up with sports, especially American sports, it was never really on my radar," she said.
"I don't know him as the football guy, I know him as the nerd that wants to host 'Jeopardy!' That's the dude I know," Woodley added.
Last year Rodgers split from former NASCAR driver Danica Patrick after being together for two years. Shortly after, he said on "The Pat McAfee Show" that he was enjoying a "new and increased love of life."
"I've made decisions and changes and habits that put me in a lot better headspace and there's just a lot of things that have come together in my life over the last few months that have really been enjoyable," he said. "That's why I'm having so much fun and it starts with love. And then surrounding yourself with people that you really enjoy."
Rodgers also previously dated actress Olivia Munn for three years, until their split in 2017. Woodley was previously involved with rugby player Ben Volavola. The pair split last year after a two-year relationship.
