Shadow Brokers released a new cache of NSA leaks on Monday that the hacker group claims reveal details about the National Security Agency's operations.
The information allegedly includes IP addresses targeted by the Equation Group, which is believed to be associated with the NSA, Fortune reported.
It includes servers in China, Iran, Russia, Pakistan, India, and South Korea, Fortune said.
Matthew Hickey, co-founder of U.K.-based cybersecurity consultancy Hacker House, told The Associated Press the targeted servers could have been used to conceal the NSA's electronic eavesdropping operations. The latest dump also raises worries that the Shadow Brokers' claims to have stolen other secrets from the agency could be valid.
The group released a set of hacking tools in August confirmed to be from the NSA by investigative publication The Intercept, which compared them with material leaked by former intelligence contractor Edward Snowden, the AP said.
The authenticity of the Oct. 31 leaks hasn't been confirmed.
The leak includes 306 domain names, with as many as 32 run by educational institutes in China and Taiwan and nine .gov sites, including five in China, Forbes reported.
The leaked data have time stamps between 2000 and 2010.
"Some are now updated but a few are still the same platform which indicates it's probably not fake," Hickey told Forbes.
Shadow Brokers has launched an online auction to release more information.
"My opinion is that this leak is a snippet to show that the auction files contain a Solaris implant/exploit," Hickey told Forbes. "It’s practically a smoking gun that the U.S., if the leaks are true, is masking its attacks through those countries to make attribution harder."
Others security experts have said the leaked data is of little value, The Register reported, citing a tweet by security researcher Kevin Beaumont, who called the leak an attempt by the hacker group to "grapple for publicity and money."
Shadow Brokers reportedly announced the leak on Medium.com, calling it "a special trick or treat for Amerikanskis."
