Singer Scott Weiland disappointed fans with his uninspired version of “Vasoline” during a Texas performance on Tuesday, but he swears he wasn’t on drugs.

TMZ, which called the performance “botched,” said Weiland was firm in saying that he wasn’t high on drugs when he offered a bad performance of the Stone Temple Pilots’ classic song.

Weiland has battled with addiction over the years, but his unidentified rep told TMZ that the singer had just had a couple of drinks before going onstage with his new band, The Wildabouts.

The rep also told TMZ that Weiland’s earpiece failed during the show.

"Good news we've overnighted him a brand new pair of earbuds and they will be there for his show in Baton Rouge tonight," the rep told the entertainment site.

The video of Weiland’s poor performance has been going viral online. In it, the singer is moving awkwardly around the stage and many wrote in the comments that he had to be on something.

Story continues below video.

Many fans seemed concerned for him:

“I love Weiland...but he reminds me so much of Layne towards the end, here. I hope he gets off the Junk before he too ends up Down In a Hole,” one person wrote, adding in a second post, “He has the same look about him that Layne had during the Unplugged performance. He doesn't look healthy. He is my second favorite frontman now next to old Phil Anselmo.”

“I feel bad for him. Truly sad. Someones gotta help him,” another said, and one fan wrote, “somebody help Scott... we don't want another rock n roll star dying from ... drugs.”

Ironically, in a Radio.com interview published last week, Weiland said, “I think that I'm less manic on stage than I used to be, but I still move around and rock the stage with a hundred percent like I always have. I just think that I focus a little bit more on my vocals and a little bit less on spinning around and having it be mayhem."
