Sayfullo Saipov, the suspect in Tuesday's New York City terror attack, reportedly bragged to police about killing eight people and injuring at least a dozen more as he lay in the hospital recuperating from a gunshot wound.
According to CBS News, Saipov told police that he would have kept driving into bikers and pedestrians if he had not crashed the rented Home Depot truck used in the attack and that he was pleased with himself for his actions.
Saipov was shot after crashing into a school bus and exiting his car with several weapons, CBS News reported. He allegedly shouted "Allahu Akbar" before being taken into custody and had notes praising ISIS and knives at the scene.
The Uzbekistan native came to the U.S. in 2010 and lived in Ohio, New Jersey and Tampa, Florida. He worked as a truck driver and later drove for Uber when he couldn't find a job driving trucks, CBS reported.
Saipov had a green card and was likely radicalized after entering the U.S., according to the BBC. Uzbek blogger-activist Mirrakhmat Muminov knew Saipov and said that he didn't have knowledge of the Koran when he came into the country.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said Saipov was a lone wolf terrorist and that evidence didn't hint at a larger plot, the BBC reported. NYPD deputy commissioner John Miller said that Saipov likely used instructions posted online by ISIS to carry out the attack.
A marriage license filed in Summit County, Ohio, suggests that Saipov may have been married to Nozima Odilova since 2013 and that they lived in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, according to KKTV.
