Croatian model Sara Grkovic has been arrested for allegedly stabbing her twin sister Dajana over a man, leaving the sibling fighting for her life in intensive care.
According to The Mirror, the two share a home with their mother in Rijeka, Croatia. Authorities said the incident happened there on Saturday when Sara and Dajana Grkovic, both 22, began quarreling over a man they both liked and who decided on having a relationship with Dajana Grkovic.
Sara Grkovic escalated the argument to violence after using a kitchen knife to stab her sister in the chest and thigh, authorities said. She is now facing attempted murder charges, noted The Mirror.
"They were always immaculately groomed and polite, and as alike as two peas in a pod," one neighbor told local Croatian television, according to The Mirror. "I never knew which one was passing me in the corridor but they always said hello."
"They were apparently arguing about a man that they both liked. He seems to have settled down in a relationship with Dajana and Sara was not happy about it," the neighbor added. "I never would have thought it would come to her trying to kill her sister though."
Another neighbor told Central European News that their mother had left them alone while traveling to Germany on business and things between the twins spun out of control,
reported the New York Post.
"They had been a bit wild since their mother went away, and they were left to their own devices," said the neighbor. "But we never thought it would come to something like this."
Neighbors said the twins had a sibling over who was the most attractive.
The Daily Beast reported that Sara Grkovic recently won a modeling competition that her sister also competed in and that she had aspirations of becoming a reality film star.
"Both of them were stunning, I don't think they worried about competition from other women, but they were certainly jealous of each other," said one neighbor, noted the Post.
