Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum is campaigning hard in Iowa, home of the first primary/caucus. And he’s not afraid to take swings at front-runner Mitt Romney, the
Des Moines Register reports.

The former U.S. senator from Pennsylvania urged about 40 Iowans at a home in Waukee Tuesday night to choose him over the former Massachusetts governor. “You can pick anyone in the field,” Santorum said. “You can pick somebody who you really like, who you think is really good for the country. I believe I’m that right person.”
His wife and kids take the same view, Santorum said. “That’s a good start.” Although Romney has the highest name recognition and is bringing in the most cash, “he’s not a favorite in any kind of real political sense,” Santorum said.
