An Oklahoma City sandwich shop's offer of a free meal to its mystery dumpster diver hasn't had a taker yet, but the goodwill gesture has gone viral.
Ashley Jiron, owner of P.B. Jams, told
KFOR-TV she felt it was the only human thing to do after she realized that someone was going through the trash.
"Last week, I had noticed some bags, when I had taken out the trash, were torn open and some of the food was taken out," said Jiron. "It hurt me that someone had to do that."
Jiron left a written message for the dumpster diver on the dumpster and on the shop's front door. It invited the person in during business hours for a free meal.
Customers started taking pictures of the message and posting them on social media.
Jiron told
KPIX-TV she plans to keep the sign up until the person comes in for the meal, saying the person is probably embarrassed.
