Jacksonville Jaguars defensive tackle San’Derrick Marks escorted 18-year-old cancer patient Khameyea Jennings to her senior prom in a black Lamborghini over the weekend.
“All I want to do is make sure she continues to smile and make sure she has a good time tonight,”
Marks said, according to WJAX-TV.
Dressed in white and gold, Marks pushed Jennings in a wheelchair into the dance while classmates cheered, the station reported.
The Frank H. Peterson Academies of Technology student was diagnosed with liver cancer in May 2013. She wore a long white dress and a tiara to the dance.
Marks visited Jennings at Wolfson Children’s Hospital to invite her to the prom. A video of the invitation quickly went viral.
“I really want to make a difference,”
Marks told The Florida Times-Union. “I want to do something where you actually make someone’s day, to make a difference in someone’s life.”
Marks tweeted about the evening.
Marks is the latest athlete to make a teenager's prom dreams come true. Others include Eagles linebacker Emmanuel Acho, who went to prom with a fan who got 10,000 retweets, and Browns wide receiver Brian Hartline, who escorted a fan through the A Prom to Remember project.
