A shooting Monday at a San Bernardino elementary school that left two adults dead and two students injured may have been a murder-suicide, authorities said.
Two adults were found dead in a classroom at North Park Elementary School around 10:45 a.m. Monday, and two students were hospitalized in unknown condition, according to KTLA.
Other students were evacuated to Cajon High School, and students at Cal State University San Bernardino campus a few blocks away were asked to shelter in place until further notice.
North Park parents were asked to pick up their children from the high school by presenting photo ID, KTLA reported. Cajon Elementary School and Hillside Elementary School were also placed on lockdown, the school district said.
Authorities reported the suspect is believed to be down and that the threat is ended, CNN reported. The other victim killed is believed to be a teacher at the school.
Violence has escalated in San Bernardino, with 61 killings last year, a 41 percent increase from 2015, the Los Angeles Times reported. San Bernardino was also the site of a 2015 terrorist attack that killed 14 and seriously wounded 22 others.
Twitter reactions were greatly varied, with some offering condolences while others got political, attacking President Donald Trump or calling for guns to be banned.
