A monkey got loose at San Antonio International Airport on Monday, escaping from its crate and evading capture for nearly two hours.
The monkey was arriving from Brown University on an American Airlines flight, KSAT 12 News reported. The flight left Boston’s Logan International and made a stop in Chicago before its arrival in San Antonio.
Its ultimate destination was La Salle County’s Born Free USA Primate Sanctuary.
Born Free USA said on Facebook the escaped monkey was its newest resident Dawkins, a rhesus macaque.
Lucky for the monkey, an Antonio International Airport has a wildlife biologist on staff, only one of four airports to do so. A veterinarian also was called to assist.
An airport spokesperson said the monkey was never near passengers and no flights were affected, KSAT reported.
Twitter users had fun with the news.
