A girlfriend's samurai sword attack on her boyfriend she suspected of cheating was all just a misunderstanding, or so he claims, citing video games as the real reason behind the stabbing.

Last week reports emerged that Emily Javier from Camas, Washington, attacked her boyfriend Alex Lovell with the weapon after suspecting that he was cheating on her, The Cut noted.

She was charged with attempted murder, but Lovell has now broken the silence and claimed that the feud arose because he was spending too much time playing video games.

"It killed my sex drive," he told BuzzFeed News. "I was training too hard, it exhausted me. I felt bad because she needed the affection. I just couldn't keep up."

According to a court document, Javier suspected Lovell was cheating after she found the dating app Tinder on his phone, KPTV noted.

She began plotting her revenge days before the incident and allegedly purchased the samurai sword and then taped it to the side of the couple's bed along with two other knives.

The night of the attack she waited for him to fall asleep before reaching for the weapons and slashing and stabbing him multiple times, police said per The Oregonian.

Thinking she had killed him, Javier called 911 on herself.

Speaking to BuzzFeed about the ordeal, Lovell said he was able to survive the attack by his now-ex because he learned fragments of the martial art Wing Chun from the Kung Fu movie "Ip Man."

"I've been indirectly preparing myself for this night my whole life," he said. "I didn't freeze. The Wing Chun came out."
