Iowa Supreme Court justices who struck down the state’s ban on same-sex marriage are on deck for impeachment, a move being spearheaded by conservative House members, the Cedar Rapids Gazette reported Friday.

“The articles (of impeachment) have been drafted,” state Rep. Glen Massie, a Des Moines Republican, told the newspaper. “Now it’s just a timing issue.”
The move to impeach the judges comes after Iowa voters in November decided not to retain three of the judges who decided the same-sex marriage case. Opponents of same-sex marriage want to impeach the remaining judges.
Massie, who is part of a group of 22 Republican freshmen, said they’re waiting to file the impeachment papers.
It’s not clear if the majority of Republicans in the House support the move to impeach the judges. However, state Rep. Tom Shaw, a Republican from Laurens, said he expects that to change.
