Rush Limbaugh’s agreement with Cumulus Media and Premiere Networks to syndicate his radio show on its news/talk stations throughout the U.S. has been renewed through 2019.
Cumulus Media said that the deal was a “multi-million-dollar” one and that it “represents Limbaugh’s increased power and audience appeal as the most-listened-to national radio talk show host in America,” according to Talkers.
The audience for Limbaugh’s show grew by 49 percent among people 12 and up, and by 23 percent among adults 25-54 on Cumulus-owned stations in major markets like Chicago, Detroit and Washington, D.C., according to Nielsen Audio, as reported by Talkers.
Nationwide, the show has also shown gains of between 12 percent and 21 percent across various age demographics, most noticeably a 17 percent gain among women 25-54.
Bob Walker, who co-heads Cumulus’ office of programming and serves as senior vice president of operations, said, “Rush is a unique and true broadcaster, and we’ve had a successful partnership for many years. We’re pleased to continue offering the Rush Limbaugh show on our market-leading brands, which connect with millions of consumers and drive positive results for our partners,” Talkers reported.
