Rubio Presses for Repeal of ‘Job-Killer’ Obamacare

Wednesday, 06 April 2011 04:41 PM EDT

As Florida Sen. Marco Rubio’s national profile continues to rise, he’s escalating his criticism of President Barack Obama’s healthcare reform law. Rubio said on Tuesday that he’s backing the efforts of U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., to repeal the law, the Sunshine State News reported Wednesday.

Rubio also lashed out at a provision in the law that requires organizations file a 1099 tax form if they buy $600 or more from a business in a given year. The Senate passed a bill Tuesday to repeal that portion of the law.

“Obamacare is destroying jobs in the real world, and I support its full repeal and replacement,” Rubio said. “Repealing Obamacare’s 1099 provision will lift a significant burden that has been placed on job creators.

“Throughout my travels in Florida, the job-destroying uncertainty caused by Obamacare has been a top concern on people’s minds, and the 1099 regulation, in particular, became a poster child for Washington top-down policies that hurt our economy and have a devastating impact on real people.

“Finally correcting the mistake Washington made in passing the 1099 regulation is an important and necessary step, but Obamacare in its entirety must be repealed and replaced.”
