Royheem Delshawn Deeds, the suspect in the Saturday shooting death of a Georgia police officer, was arrested after a manhunt.

Deeds, 24, is accused of killing Eastman, Georgia, officer Tim Smith. He was arrested in Nassau County, Florida, early Sunday morning, CBS News reported.

Smith was shot around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday while responding to a report of a suspicious person. He reportedly encountered Deeds in a residential area of Eastman, exited his patrol car and was shot.

Smith returned fire, and the suspect fled the scene, USA Today reported. Smith died at an area hospital. He had been with the Eastman Police Department since February 2011.

Smith wasn't wearing a body camera, WMAZ-TV reported. He called in the shooting.

The Telfair County Sheriff's Department posted about Deeds' arrest on Facebook.

Smith leaves behind two sons, a daughter, a stepson, and a fiancée, CNN reported.

Fiancée Chelsea Clark told CNN that Smith would have turned 31 on Monday. The couple was together for two years.

"We were engaged. We were trying to get on our feet before getting married," she told CNN.

Many Twitter users shared condolences over Smith's death.
