Rosie O'Donnell, who has famously clashed with President Donald Trump, says she will do "anything" to help get Joe Biden elected as president despite the recent sexual harassment allegations he is facing. While endorsing Biden, however, she made comments indicating a lack of enthusiasm over the former vice president.
The actor and liberal activist admitted in an interview with The Daily Beast that, although the former Delaware senator was not her top pick, he was "higher than the Trump bar."
"He's not my first choice and he was not my second choice, but like everyone else in the country who's a Democrat, I will work for him and support him as much as I can, and do anything I can to help him be the elected president of the United States," O'Donnell said.
"The bar is at the curb thanks to Donald Trump, so he's higher than the Trump bar," she continued. "But I think there was a whole level of people, many of whom were running for that Democratic [Party] nomination, who would have been better than him."
O'Donnell admitted there are aspects of Biden she takes issue with, including his age (77) and the allegations of sexual impropriety from his former staffer Tara Reade.
"This is who we have," O'Donnell said.
"The fight is between Trump and Biden, and you have to choose who you want to win. And I choose Biden, a hundred-million percent. But he is not without flaws, and he is not by any means my first choice."
Reade has faced attacks accusing her of political motives for coming forward with her allegations of sexual assault by Biden in 1993.
"I'm a posterchild for why women wouldn't come forward, aren't I?" she told Megan Kelly in an exclusive interview released Friday. "If you're watching social media and the news on how I'm being attacked on everything about me — if you did have a story to come forward on Joe Biden — it would be pretty daunting, wouldn't it?"
Reade admitted the political nature to the timing of her revelations but said she felt compelled to speak up.
"I am not here to influence a national election, and I don't want to be. I don't want to help Donald Trump win. I do not want to help Joe Biden win, obviously, he's the person that hurt me," she told Kelly.
"You don't have to discredit me, or not believe me, to vote for Joe Biden," she added.
