Roseanne Barr is facing backlash over a deep state conspiracy tweet in which she claimed President Trump was freeing hundreds of children each month by breaking up human trafficking rings around the world, The Hill reported.
"President Trump has freed so many children held in bondage to pimps all over this world," the "Roseanne" star tweeted last week, according to The Hill. "Hundreds each month. He has broken up trafficking rings in high places everywhere. notice that. I disagree on some things, but give him benefit of doubt-4 now."
The post, which has since been removed, indicated Barr's support for a conspiracy theory that alleges Trump has been quietly going about breaking up child sex rings created by high-ranking Democrats, Newsweek reported.
The conspiracy theory was created by an anonymous user identified as "Q" or "QAnon" on the internet messaging board 4Chan.
Will Sommer Medium noted on Medium that "QAnon believers are convinced that the world is run by a nefarious deep state cabal of Democrats, celebrities, and intelligence community figures."
Supporters of the conspiracy theory are convinced that Trump is slowly tearing down these child sex rings and exposing the figures behind them.
Barr was thrust into the limelight last week when her show, "Roseanne," drew high ratings during its premiere episode reboot on ABC, and her tweet has drawn widespread backlash as many criticize the network for giving her a platform.
Among them was former Nixon White House counsel John Dean, who noted that there was "a race on for the most ignorant viewers."
Former Democratic National Committee chair Howard Dean also took to social media to demand that Barr substantiate her claims.
Barr later addressed her critics with another tweet, stating she would no longer be posting her opinions to social media as it invited "bullying," The Hill reported.
