MMA superstar Ronda Rousey released her new book "My Fight/Your Fight" on Tuesday, and already the autobiography is earning praise for its no-holds-barred honesty.
"It’s not really a memoir and it’s not really a self-help book,"
Rousey said on "Good Morning America."
"It’s a little bit more a mature themed book. It’s a life story and life isn't PG rated."
The book tells Rousey's life story — how she overcame developmental challenges as an infant, her father's suicide at age 8, being so poor that she slept in her car, as well as the negative sentiments of dozens of doubters along the way to becoming a champion.
"I have been booed in 30 countries. I have been booed following UFC victories. I’m more used to being booed by a crowd than I am being cheered. I have never been a fan favorite. Pretty much my entire competitive career has been defined by people hoping to see me lose," reads part of an excerpt

"In the UFC, I’ve embraced the role of the villain. I don’t shy away from controversy. I don’t hold back when it comes to speaking my mind. That doesn’t always endear me to the masses. In a world that loves to root for the underdog, I’m always the favorite — and I always win."
The book also tells of how Rousey discovered that her mother was once a judo champion.
"It was an unbelievable discovery as a kid," she said. "All this time, I’d been looking at my dad as big, strong, invincible, and my mom as the nurturer. I had no idea that my mom could kick my dad’s a**."
Rousey begged her mother to teach her, and the rest, as they say is history.
