Romney Campaign Gets a Boost From Ryan

Friday, 17 August 2012 10:14 AM EDT

Since Rep. Paul Ryan joined the Mitt Romney ticket the campaign has pulled in a cool $10 million in donations and seen a jump in social media and polls, campaign manager Matt Rhoades reports. Since the Saturday announcement in Norfolk, the campaign has had more than 124,800 donations, averaging about $80, The Washington Post reported.

In a campaign memo, Rhoades reports Romney’s website has gotten 2 million hits and he now has an additional half million Facebook fans and 50,000 new Twitter followers. Ryan picked up 860,000 more Facebook fans and more than 118,000 new Twitter followers. Polling in key battleground states has also seen a bump.

“The Obama team’s increasing vitriol is a sure sign that they’re rattled by the pick,” Rhoades wrote according to the Post. “Unable to engage in an elevated policy debate, they’ve spent the past few days drowning in their own venom.”
