Robin Thicke honored his late dad, Alan Thicke, on the four-year anniversary of his death in an emotional tribute shared to social media two days after the birth of his son. Taking to Instagram on Sunday, Robin posted a photo of himself lying next to his newborn, Luca Patrick.
"Four years ago today, on December 13, 2016, my beloved Father passed away," the 43-year-old singer captioned the image. "As I wake up next to this little guy his first night home, I miss my father so much, but I feel his love in my heart every time I kiss my babies on the head the same way he would kiss me."
Alan died after reportedly suffering a heart attack while playing hockey with his 19-year-old son, Carter. He was 69.
"I’m crying a little right now," Robin continued in his Instagram post. "Partly because I’m sad you’re not here, but mostly because I’m happy that I had you to love me, guide me, and show me the way. I hope I make you proud. I miss you every day. Thank you Dad."
Robin and fiancée April Love Geary, who share Mia Love, 2, and Lola Alain, 21 months, welcomed Luca Patrick into the world on Friday. Robin shared the news on Saturday.
"Luca Patrick Thicke is in the house!!!," he captioned a black and white photo in which he is holding his son. "Thank you God, and my darling @Aprillovegeary for this blessing. I Wish my Dad and Andre Harrell were still here to meet him, But I will do my best everyday to teach him what they taught me about Family, Friendship and Love. Thank you all for your kindness and support! I love you Luca."
