Actor Robert DeNiro crashed a nearby World Cup party so he could watch the Thursday game while in Brooklyn filming "The Intern," Business Insider reports.

Initially, Warner Brothers sent an email to the apartment building near the filming in the Cobble Hill neighborhood asking about temporary satellite arrangements.

“Our lead actor, Robert DeNiro, would very much like to watch the World Cup game, today at 12p," the email said, according to Business Insider. "Would it be possible to place a small portable satellite on the building rooftop ASAP and run a cable to the street to help facilitate this request?"

But instead of setting up a satellite connection, DeNiro reportedly got an invitation from a group of people watching the game in a nearby home.

“We got another email from a neighbor saying he talked to the crew and apparently he found a house of people watching it and joined them," a neighbor told Business Insider.

Others paused their workday to watch the U.S. lose — but still advance — in its Germany match. New York magazine reported that President Barack Obama watched the game aboard Air Force I, while New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo watched in a board room and gave New York employees an extra hour on their lunch so they could catch the game too.
