Robbie Knievel, son of the late daredevil Evel Knievel, was arrested in Butte, Montana, and charged with felony DUI and criminal endangerment after a crash Tuesday evening.
No one was injured in the wreck, in which a 2005 GMC Yukon reportedly driven at a high rate of speed by Knievel rear-ended a Honda Accord, setting off a
chain reaction that involved two other vehicles, The Montana Standard reported.
Knievel, 52, fled the scene and was located about a block away from the accident with a bloody lip and smelling of alcohol, according to the report.
Knievel, who pleaded guilty to DUI in South Dakota in August 2013, refused a breathalyzer, and a blood was sample taken at St James Healthcare, The Montana Standard said.
He was arraigned on Wednesday afternoon. Knievel, who has three prior drunken driving convictions, allegedly ran a red light.
At the time of his 2013 arrest, Knievel was unapologetic in an interview with TMZ.
“I ride motorcycles, and I drink,” he said. “I’m a frickin drinkin, drivin daredevil. I jump motorcycles, I ride motorcycles and I frickin drink and ride. That’s my deal.”
