Pregnant "Riverdale" star Vanessa Morgan’s husband has filed for divorce five months after the pair tied the knot. Michael Kopech, who is the father of Morgan's unborn baby, filed in June and on Monday the case was sealed, according to court documents cited by Chicago Tribune. No hearing was scheduled.
News of the divorce comes days after Morgan announced her pregnancy on Instagram.
"Exciting news... I am overjoyed to be welcoming my baby boy into the world this January," she wrote on Friday in a post that featured video and photos of her gender reveal party. "This little guy has already brought me so much happiness and a feeling of such a greater purpose. I cannot wait to meet you!!"
Morgan continued: "Lil one you were made with so much love & already exude a light so strong it warms my belly. Thank you God for this blessing. I’m just so happy & can’t wait to dedicate everyday to being the best mommy I can be."
Morgan made no mention of Kopech, an MLB player, in her post, and he did not appear in any of the gender reveal party photos.
Kopech and Morgan married on Jan. 4 in a bohemian ceremony at the Historic Walton House located south of Miami, according to The Tribune. The pair had been dating for about a year before Kopech proposed in July 2019. Morgan called her wedding a "fairy-tale dream."
"Thank you for teaching me the true meaning of unconditional love. You let me be me, you let me be free. My Eternal," she captioned wedding photos shared to Instagram shortly after they tied the knot.
Kopech has not been featured in any photos on Morgan’s Instagram account since April.
