The Reagan Legacy Foundation announced Wednesday that a walkway honoring World War II veterans will open in Normandy, France, on June 6, 2018, the 74th anniversary of D-Day.
A press release by the foundation said the Walkway to Victory will be a permanent installation connecting the four buildings that make up the Airborne Museum in Sainte Mere Eglise, Normandy.
Different sections of the walkway will be named for actors and athletes who put their service to their country above their careers during WWII, including Jimmy Stewart, Clark Gable, and Joe DiMaggio.
Anyone who wants to honor a veteran can personalize a brick in the Walkway to Victory for a $250 tax deductible donation to The Reagan Legacy Foundation, founded by Michael Reagan, son of former President Ronald Reagan. The bricks can be personalized with three lines to include names, ranks, branch of service, dates, or other information the donor wants to include.
The foundation will use funds raised through this project to educate the public about the service of those who fought in WWII, and to provide educational scholarships for men and women who serve on the U.S.S. Ronald Reagan aircraft carrier.
