Rasmussen: Only 23% of Voters Approve of Obama

By    |   Wednesday, 13 July 2011 12:13 PM EDT

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Wednesday shows that 23 percent of the nation's voters strongly approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president. Thirty-eight percent strongly disapprove, giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of minus 15.

A generic Republican leads Obama by five points in a very early look at the 2012 election.

The Presidential Approval Index is calculated by subtracting the number who strongly disapprove from the number who strongly approve.

Overall, 48 percent of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the president's performance; 51 percent at least somewhat disapprove.
