Sometimes even rainbow unicorns need to be rescued, as was the case on Saturday when sheriff’s deputies had to help four women stranded on a giant inflatable version of the mythical one-horned horse stranded in the weeds of a Minnesota lake.
The two Chisago County deputies were driving along the Fish Lake when they noticed the brightly colored unicorn afloat offshore with several women aboard, Fox News reported.
They pulled over, wanting to take a photo of the incredible scene, but then realized the women and their inflatable boat were stuck in the reeds and needed help getting to shore.
Deputy Scotty Finnegan grabbed a rope, threw it to the stranded women and pulled them back to land while the other officer filmed the rescue, The New York Post reported.
“With a handful of laughs and some mad rescue roping skills they were pulled back to the dock!,” The Chisago County Sheriff's Office said in a post to Twitter.
It was a good thing the two deputies happened to drive past and see the inflatable rainbow unicorn. Finnegan said the women would have struggled to get back out of the lake without assistance. The video footage was already doing brisk rounds on social media and has generated dozens of wisecracks and jokes. “This rescue today seems very significant. The unicorn would like to get the word out,” The Chisago County Sheriff's Office said in a follow-up post.
"This was my mom and her friends,” a Twitter user replied to the post. “I knew I should've gone to the lake that day! Hilarious!”
