The Oakland Raiders staff concealed running back Marshawn Lynch as he sat during the national anthem before the team's football game against the Denver Broncos on Sunday, according to the website Deadspin.
Lynch has "habitually" sat on the bench during the national anthem, but new focus has been placed on the action since President Donald Trump suggested last month that owners fire players who don't stand during the pregame ritual, Deadspin noted.
Trump singled out NFL players again in a Twitter post on Saturday.
Lynch was surrounded by Raiders' personnel as the national anthem played, tweeted Amy Trask, of CBS Sports.
Lynch was also spotted by ESPN's Adam Schefter going to the locker room before the game wearing a black T-shirt that read "Everybody vs. Trump."
Fox News reported that while the number of players that decided to kneel or sit during the national anthem Sunday was down from the more than 200 who did it last weekend, dozens of NFL players still took part in the silent protests, with some raising their fists before the games.
The protests during the national anthem began last year when then-San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick sat and then took a knee during the song before his football game to protest alleged police violence against African-Americans. The gesture was picked up by other players as well through the rest of the season.
