Rachael Ray is lucky to be alive after she managed to escape a massive blaze that ravaged her New York mansion on Sunday evening.
The talk show host was at home with her husband, John Cusimano, and dog Bella when the fire broke out just after 7 p.m., according to Daily Mail. They were able to make it out unscathed, but their home on Chuckwagon Drive in Lake Luzerne was damaged by the inferno, which took several hours and up to 12 fire departments to control.
The cause of the fire is unknown but firefighters do not believe it was suspicious, according to CBS17. Due to the extent of the loss, an investigation has been launched by the Luzerne-Hadley Fire Department, which is working with the Warren County fire coordinator.
A representative for Ray confirmed in a statement that there were no injuries.
"The house is unfortunately damaged and we don’t yet know to what extent," the representative added.
Ray has been hosting her cooking show from the kitchen of her home, where she and Cusimano have been quarantined since the coronavirus pandemic broke out. In April she posted a video clip online of her kitchen, which she designed herself on a piece of paper.
"I decorated the house before it was ever built," she said in the video, according to Daily Mail. "I drew the house on a piece of paper so I knew what I wanted it to be in my mind."
