"Property Brothers" star Jonathan Scott is getting political. The reality TV personality, who is also a singer, songwriter, and environmental activist, wrote a single that addresses issues of solar energy in the U.S. In the song "Being Honest," Scott's lyrics touch upon the problems facing the nation while calling for change.
"If I'm being honest/I'm angry and confused/You don't want to see the problem/I'm tired of that excuse," he sings in the lyrical video that was shared by Fox News on Monday.
"'Cause if we're being honest/Something's gotta change/Enough's enough so wake/We're all being played," he continues in the chorus.
Speaking about the song, Scott explained that it contained a message that "a lot of us" can relate to.
"We're all trying to make sense of how and why we got here. We're tired of feeling powerless and are just ready for some honesty," he told the outlet. "People are frustrated and ready to do something about it."
In addition to his appearance alongside brother Drew on "Property Brothers," which sees the pair turning fixer-uppers into affordable dream homes in mere weeks, Scott also recently released the documentary "Jonathan Scott's Power Trip" that explores the lack of renewable energy in the U.S. In the film, he interviews conservatives fighting for change. It also takes a look at the "corruption" surrounding the issue.
"I invested three years of my life to help people understand where our energy comes from, why it matters, and who is trying to take away your rights," he said.
"We should have the right to produce our own energy, to create more and better-paying jobs, and to do it in a healthy, fair way for everyone, no matter where they live," Jonathan added. "The fossil fuel utilities have shown they will do anything to keep us divided, but I believe in us."
