A profane anti-Trump sticker is drawing outrage from a Texas community and its sheriff, who wants a couple to change the sticker on their truck so it doesn’t contain obscenities.
Sheriff Troy Nehls in Fort Bend County posted on Facebook Wednesday that he had received complaints about the sticker, which says, “F*** Trump and f*** you for voting from him.”
In the post that has now been deleted, Nehls posted a photo of the sticker with the obscene words blacked out and a message that he wanted to “discuss” the sticker.
“Our Prosecutor has informed us she would accept Disorderly Conduct charges regarding it, but I feel we could come to an agreement regarding a modification to it,” he wrote.
Owner of the truck Karen Fonseca said she was a former employee of the county jail and that she and her husband custom-ordered the sticker just after Trump was inaugurated in January, the Houston Chronicle reported.
Fonseca told the newspaper she and her husband were just exercising their freedom of speech and did not plan to remove the sticker. She said the decal had attracted attention before and that she had been pulled over, but had never gotten a ticket.
State law says the sticker could be considered disorderly conduct, which is defined as “abusive, indecent, profane or vulgar language in a public place” that “tends to incite an immediate breach of the peace,” the Chronicle reported.
On Twitter, users debated the fate of the sticker.
