Princess Märtha Louise of Norway wants a unicorn but will settle for a boyfriend for Christmas.

The newly single Norwegian royal shared a meme to her Instagram account joking about her festive request and, although the post is upbeat and humorous, it stems from a recent divorce and carries heavier undertones.

In the post, the princess asks Santa for a unicorn but he tells her to be realistic.

"Okay, I want a boyfriend," she says, to which Santa asks "what color do you want your unicorn?"

She may be a princess but she has not had her fairytale ending, having separated from her husband Ari Behn last year after 14 years of marriage, People magazine noted.

And while the Norway princess is posting memes wishing for a boyfriend to cuddle up to for Christmas, reports have emerged that Behn is back in the dating game.

This does not mean that there are not a number of admirers scrambling to win Princess Märtha Louise's attention, as can be seen by the comments flooding her Instagram feed.

"Too bad I’m so far away," one person remarked to the meme. "Would enjoy taking you out for a dinner date. My loss."

Another admirer wrote that he would be honored to be her new boyfriend.

"You will always have what you want when you follow your heart’s desire," he said.

Louise previously bared all on a webinar on Soulspring, which was later removed, the Daily Mail said.

"I’m going through a divorce, which is a very painful period in my life," she said, per the Daily Mail. "Of course, it is difficult and tedious, but it also means that you can process it and recover faster…Without that knowledge, I would not be here now."
